Insanity is repeating the same mistake time and again and expecting a different outcome.Every election cycle, the electorate perform the ritual of perpetuating the status quo by voting the establishment. They gain nothing but buyer’s remorse afterwards. Yet, out of the force of habit, they vote the same way in the next polls.
Our people must wise up and vote smart. We have to think differently.Imagine that you are not inclined to presume that a candidate has automatically earned your vote because he is the incumbent.
Imagine that your preference for a politician is based on the quality of their manifesto.
Imagine that all candidates for elective office are required to prove their competence in a debate.
Imagine that you are attracted to the candidate who presents an agenda with more credible selling points.
Imagine that your paramount interest is not the idea of the candidate’s age but the age of his idea.
Imagine that you are the kingmaker, not the godfathers and moneybags.
Imagine that your vote is powerful.
Imagine that you desire more than a mediocre leadership; that you crave a government that is not long on billboards and short on projects.Imagine that you had the audacity to support the candidate with a superior vision.
Imagine that you lean towards the man who demonstrates a good grasp of the issues and has a solid strategy to actualize his deliverables.
Imagine that you don’t feel under obligation to echo the chorus of rented sycophants.Imagine that youths have the courage of their own convictions, that they believed the best in the themselves and affirmed the promise of their generation.
Imagine that youths can challenge stereotypes that make them ashamed of their dreams, that they see advantage in being the underdog, that they count themselves worthy of great endeavours.
Imagine that the youths don’t relegate themselves to the background or trade their place on the table for mere bread crumbs or negotiate away their birthright.
Imagine that youths rediscover their pride and take on the task of setting the agenda and pointing the society to a preferred future.
Imagine that youths had unity of purpose, that they rally behind one of their own and march like a force of progress.
Imagine possibilities.
